Why choose a legal team like Big Valley instead of a solo lawyer?

We live in an age of specialization. An individual attorney in a solo practice cannot keep up with all areas and complexities of law. That’s why we take a team approach to give you the help you need by bringing together top legal minds in various aspects of the law while maintaining a size that allows us to be more efficient than a mega-firm.

Is it more expensive to hire a team like Big Valley Law?

In legal services, it pays to hire the right team. We encourage you to compare our rates, our strengths, and our results. We believe that the legal service we offer is fairly and competitively priced based upon expertise, decades of experience, and results achieved.

What will the legal service cost?

You are entitled to know what to expect in terms of costs. On your first visit, as part of your initial consultation, we will discuss the costs and arrangements for payment related to your particular case. Because we offer a comprehensive line of legal services, costs and payment arrangements vary according to the kind of case involved and may be based on an hourly rate or may require no upfront payment until we win your case.

What about money to be held “in trust” by my attorney?

Certain legal matters require funds to be held “in trust” or “in escrow” for a client for weeks or months at a time. For example, a damage settlement may require us to hold the settlement proceeds “in escrow” until the settlement check has cleared normal banking procedures. This is your money, held in trust, in a separate escrow account

What compensation can I receive for an injury or accident?

You may receive economic damages to compensate you for costs and expenses that you have suffered and may anticipate in the future based on your injury. You may also be entitled to damages for the effects of injury or death, including the loss of enjoyment of life, scars, disability, pain, or the loss of relationships with loved ones.

Will My Case Go to Court?

The majority of cases can be handled without going to court. When an insurance company realizes it will lose in court, they are willing to negotiate a settlement. When the insurance company refuses to make a fair offer, we are lucky to have access to the courts to resolve the matter.

Why do I need a personal injury lawyer?

After an accident you get one shot at seeking full compensation for your injuries suffered. Your best chance at maximizing compensation is almost always with the knowledgeable and professional guidance of an attorney. Other parties in your case will have legal representation, including insurance companies. Only an attorney can make sure your rights are protected and best interests are looked out for.

How long will it take to get a divorce?

For divorces based on separation, the spouses must live separately for one year (six months if there are no minor children) There is no waiting period required for adultery.

Can I “hide” my criminal record?

If you’ve been arrested in Virginia, your criminal record can be viewed by the public. That means potential employers, licensing agencies, schools, and family members can see it, and it can cause problems for your professional and personal life. We have experience in expunging your records from public access.
